PINEVILLE —New recreation fees will go into effect January 1, 2008 at some Kisatchie National Forest sites. All new fees will be clearly posted at the sites on the information board. “The funds collected from fees will be used to maintain and enhance recreation sites and trails,” said Forest Supervisor, Gretta Boley. “The Forest Service has interviewed many trail riders and campers. The majority of people interviewed are in agreement with increasing fees, if the money is used for operation, maintenance and construction of the new amenities,” Ms. Boley continued. Some Kisatchie trails remain free. However on trails where there is a charge anyone riding an OHV, bicycle or horse will be charged the same fee.
